Thermal Shock Chambers

Air-to-Air Thermal Shock Chambers

Traditional Method – Moving Specimen

CST models are available in vertical (130 and 320 litre) or horizontal (500 and 1000 litre) configurations, each incorporating two compartments operating at different temperature levels.

The 130 litre model, known as the “spinner”, features a motorised screw-driven system that transfers the specimen between hot and cold zones.

The CST130/2T spinner has been redesigned using the Discovery My platform, delivering improved performance and reduced energy consumption.

Alternative Method – Fixed Specimen

CST “flapper” models (130 and 320 litre) keep the specimen fixed in position while the chamber alternates airflow between hot and cold compartments.

This configuration is particularly suited to laboratories where space is limited, as it optimises footprint while maintaining thermal shock capability.

Liquid-to-Liquid Thermal Shock Chambers

To meet standards requiring liquid-to-liquid thermal shock testing, two CSTL models are available (12 and 20 litre capacities).

Specimen transfer between hot and cold wells is electrically operated, ensuring controlled and repeatable test cycles.

Utmost Flexibility

ACS thermal shock chambers are available in multiple configurations to suit varying test standards and operational requirements.

The range can be broadly divided into:

  • Air-to-air thermal shock chambers (CST series)
  • Liquid-to-liquid thermal shock chambers (CSTL series)

This structured range allows selection of the most appropriate technology based on specimen type, applicable standards and required temperature transition performance.

Innovative Software

The ACS “spinner” thermal shock chamber is equipped with the integrated MyKratos™ all-in-one software platform. This enables users to manage, monitor and support the chamber via desktop and mobile devices using WiFi, Ethernet or mobile network connectivity. No additional hardware or external software is required.

Each chamber incorporates a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to manage all operational functions and safety interlocks, ensuring stable and secure performance.

A dedicated interface enables control via tablets and smartphones, as well as secure remote internet access.

Multiple chambers can be connected in cluster mode, allowing centralised supervision from a single control point.

MyKratos™ also includes MyAngel24™, a remote teleassistance system that maintains a continuous 24-hour connection to a secure server. Operating conditions and potential anomalies are monitored in real time, supporting faster diagnostics and more efficient service and maintenance response.
